How I Make Investments
What I Invest In
How do you invest yourself: your time...your financial and proprietary resources...your mental, emotional, and intellectual rigor?
Aside from the traditional needs I serve and roles I fulfill as an investor, I devote the above-mentioned assets in things I can "get behind" and be passionate about at any level—not just projects and start-ups, but people. In fact, I'm more apt to become involved in something because of its backbone: the person or people that drive it.
Of course, as a serial entrepreneur, I am also attracted to new opportunities; but mostly those of my own ideation.
Some examples of how/what I invest in:
Native American Communities
Arts & Culture
Film & Television Projects
Startup Ventures
Live and Recorded Entertainment Projects
Sustainable Development
CDFIs (Community Development Financial Institutions)
That being said, I have always been more focused on using the majority of my brain trust and other proprietary assets for my own philanthropic interests.
Causes I care about:
Arts & Culture
Community Arts Programs
Cultural Heritage and American Indian Language Preservation
Music Education
Drum & Bugle Corps—financial stability and sustainability
Native American Sovereignty issues, affairs, policy: Affordable Housing, Economic Development
Education
US Military Service Veterans Affairs
The "Underdog" in virtually any situation
Some organizations my companies and I both support:
